ADELBODEN, Switzerland (Jan. 11) - The steep off camber finish pitch at Adelboden took its toll on 2006 Olympic combined champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) and reigning World Cup overall champion Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) as the Americans finished 15-16 respectively in a World Cup slalom. Austrian Reinfried Herbst claimed his first podium since winning the slalom at last winter's World Cup Finals to take the win.

Jimmy Cochran (Keene, NH) was 26th for his first World Cup points this season. Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange retained the slalom points lead finishing ninth and Benni Raich of Austria held onto the pole position for the World Cup overall finishing 11th.

MT. SNOW, VT (Jan. 11) - The top of the podium shined with Olympic gold medalists as Kelly Clark (Mt. Snow, VT) and Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) won the halfpipe event at the Winter Dew Tour Sunday at Mt. Snow.

"I'm always looking to do well at the events. A podium is great, but first place is even better. I'm just happy for today," Clark said. "I had a great run and it was good to be home in front of my family and friends."

Roenicke to Carry Flag at Australian Sports Festival

(COLORADO SPRINGS, CO) - Tara Roenicke (Alta Loma, Calif.), one of two U.S. beach volleyball players competing at this week's Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney, has been voted to be the U.S. flag bearer for the opening ceremonies Jan. 14.

Roenicke and partner Summer Ross (Carlsbad, Calif.) will begin competition at the Festival on Jan. 15. The beach volleyball tournament is scheduled to take place at Maroubra Beach and the medal matches will take place on Jan. 18. The fifth Australian Youth Olympic Festival will host 1,500 athletes from 25 nations at the Olympic village at Homebush in Sydney.
